The Business department is to offer Business Studies to students in the school. The vision of the department is to train students to become more talented and build confidence in handling business related matters. The core mandate is to teach business students to pass well, gain admission into tertiary institutions, have the opportunity of writing Business Professional examinations and / or become self-sufficient in managing their own businesses.

The subjects offered in the department include: Core Mathematics; English Language; Integrated Science and Social Studies as core subjects and Financial Accounting; Cost Accounting; Business Management; Economics; Elective Mathematics and Elective Information Communication Technology (ICT) as elective subjects. The choice of any four (4) electives is to enable students gain access to programmes relating to business discipline in both public and private universities world-wide.

Teachers in the department are trained professionals, knowledgeable and skillful in the areas in which they teach. They also acknowledge the fact that the school is a single sex (girls) school thereby encouraging them to learn hard and disregard the notion that the subjects thought or learned are difficult and at the same time, no gainful employment or progression after completing secondary education.

The staff members are hard-working and their aim is to work towards achieving the collective mission statement of Tamale Girls Senior High School.
